I really enjoyed this story. To be honest, at first I had a bit of a hard time getting into it. But then when Niklas showed up the story really took off for me. the heroine is in Sweden for a month doing a freelance job for a magazine. She has left behind an ex-boyfriend, her home, family, etc. She is feeling a bit of freedom. She is traveling to several countries to do articles for this magazine and to take pictures. Photography is her first love but it is not earning her any money and she desperately needs funds to continue her quest. He is a hockey player for his country. I do not know a lot about hockey but this story taught me a little bit. I have never cared for it because of all the brutal acts the players commit on each other. All part of the game but I just don't care for it. however, if the players look like this guy I may take up the spot!! He was a super hero. I loved hm. I can imagine some of the torment he went through with his life belonging to the public because he is a sport figure. He meets the heroine and he is very attracted to her. They do finally get together and they have a great story. I really enjoyed the book and highly recommend it.
SPOILER---it bothered me that the heroine seemed disturbed by the fact that he would not give up hockey, his life and career, for her. They had only just met and spent one night together. BUT, she had plans to leave for her next assignment and had no intentions of letting him or her feelings for him interfere with her leaving. Doesn't that seem a little one-sided? You give up but I am not going to? I sort of thoughts her thoughts and emotions were a little off. Seems she painted all men with the same brush as her ex.
But no mater, it was a great story and a great read.
I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am a reader and this is just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

Stockholm Diaries Caroline Volume 1 Rebecca Hunter Books Reviews
I so want to go to Sweden right now! Although, I should check if it's hockey season ;) Reading Caroline gave this American girl a glimpse of Scandavia that kind of made me want to head to Ikea for some Swedish meatballs. This book is a fun, sexy romp through Stockholm, alternating fast paced action scenes (and not just the steamy ones!) with the sort of introspection I go through all the time (why did I date that boring guy for soooo long?). I loved the fish out of water aspect, and the fact that it hit on so many levels -- Caroline in Sweden, Caroline with this rippling animal that was just so far outside of her norm, Niklas wanting to do more than just explode in physical activity. This incredible new author really puts a softness into the broad shouldered love interest. It's a great beach read that made me wish the neighbor of my vacation rental could be half as hot.
I really enjoyed this book. I love the story of Niklas and Caroline's escape to a new life. I was, however, waiting for more of a backstory or event as she kept dropping hints about walking alone at night and how things were with Brad, her ex she left in the states. I thought we would learn something deeper about Caroline, but it seems she still has a lot to learn about herself instead. I'll definitely be checking out Caroline 2!
Caroline is a photographer who is on assignment to interview ex-patriots around the world. It is her dream job, and the chance to break free of a life that was stifling her. Sweden is her first stop and will last only weeks before she off to a new country. Niklas is a former NHL hockey player, currently playing for the Sweden national team. He has a temper and a past. Neither is in a place where a relationship makes sense, but they are drawn to one another nonetheless.
The best part about this book is the setting. Caroline is new to world travel and Stockholm. It is terrific to see the city through her eyes. That she tends to see it through a camera lens just makes it all the better. All the little details of daily life in this country add so much to the story. The main characters have a lot of potential, but tend fall a bit flat. Caroline is trying a little too hard to break free of men ruling her life, it is an old saw that was brought up a bit too much. Niklas is a stereotypical hockey player with anger management issues and his constant withdrawal at times leaned toward tedious. Still the love story itself was sweet and the ending was unexpected. I am looking forward to continuing the story in the next book.
Hunter was a new Author to me and she was very interesting to say the least. She kept me hooked in the book and didn’t let me go. Niklas and Caroline are awesome characters and she built them up nicely throughout the whole book. I loved reading and watching how their stories unfold. Caroline’s life makes you think of a normal everyday persons life. Then you run into a superstar like Niklas. This is just an overall awesome and hot read. Definitely a recommend.
Caroline had a plan. She left America and got a job with a magazine where she would interview ex-patriots all over the world and photograph them. The plan was to submit two articles per country and then move on to the next country. Her first country was Sweden and she was in Stockholm to spend a month. Her best friend from college, Veronica, had been able to secure her an apartment in the same apartment building. The plan was going well until she met her tall, very handsome, very muscular neighbor.
Meeting Nicklas was not part of Caroline's plan. Nicklas was a national hockey player who was really good at what he did. He also had a temper off the ice that was hard to control and sometimes got him in trouble. He was very protective of Caroline from the start and seemed be drawn to her. Their relationship was sweet and very steamy. I really like Nicklas' character. Even though he was fierce on the ice, he had a kind and gentle nature when it came to Caroline. He had secrets that he never wanted Caroline to find out. Would they be enough to destroy what was beginning to develop? Would Caroline stick to her plan and leave when her month was up?
I really enjoyed this story but wasn't sold on the descriptive sex. I am more of fade to black kind of girl, no details needed. Other than that particular detail, I enjoyed the story.
