The Dead Civil War by Kenneth W. Cain is an interesting take on the zombie genre. Cain’s prose is tight, and he doesn’t waste time with tons of exposition and history, as I feared he would because of the books title.

Zombies are popping up and threating to make a world gone bad go even worse. I’m always interested to see a male write female characters, and I thought Cain did a great job developing these characters, female, as well as male, so that we cared deeply about what happened to them. I usually stay away from Zombie books, but I enjoyed Mr. Cain’s collection, Fresh Cut Tales, and I enjoyed it so much I figured I’d try this one. A good decision on my part. I’ve also tried another PMP book, Resurrection X: Zombie Evolution, by Dane Hatchell, and I wasn’t disappointed.

The Dead Civil War is entertaining, original, and breaks the mold when it comes to zombies. Don’t let the overexposed zombie genre keep you away from this one. Great read. Four stars.

I really enjoyed reading this book by Kenneth W. Cain. The characters were a ton of fun and I really identified with the female lead. The characters really developed over the course of the book and added a lot of depth to the storyline. I recommend this highly!
This was an excellent,intense story. It made me laugh, it made me cry,it made me feel. This is one of those books that pulls you into the story.. I read it all the way through because I just couldn't put down.
I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves the zombie genre. Buy This Book. You will be glad you did.
